How about fx and loadbox/ir loader? Yay or nay
Would be a great product, but I’m not sure how you’d integrate an fx unit that ideally needs to be on your pedalboard, with a load box/IR loader that needs to sit between the amp and cab. Suppose you could have a controller on the floor and the unit itself could be near the amp.

It’s possible to do, and Fractal do already have the existing tech available.

If you follow fractal owners on Facebook, there’s grainy photo, main takeaway, four switches no xlr in/out

What I don't get is WHY Cliff announces it on TGP instead of the Fractal forums.

Honestly, the Fractal community - and Cliff - just seem like a complete bunch of idiots, all circlejerking (as was previously mentioned). Maybe it's an American thing?

If the ir loader means fewer FX, no.

If IR loader and FX and one of those FX is the Megatap delay, then I will be feeling very warm and moist.

    Think this is the unit.

Looks to have a screen, four switches, and jack ins and outs. So looks very much like something to integrate with your amp.

Very interesting. I was looking at new pedals - Leslie and Chorus and some new delays, etc so may hold off and wait to see what this is.

Will be interesting to see how it’s powered.

Yeah Cliff strikes me as an Engineering type of guy with zero marketing skills. They are seriously lacking in the comms department. Amazing products tho.

Add an FC6 or FC12  and you are sorted :)

I hope this new unit has MIDI I/O. Fractal does great stuff but right now it does not do compact great stuff. Something that size of the Stomp XL with MIDI I/I to hook up to an MC6 Pro or Luminite box would be great.

Hey, come on man. No need for that - it doesn't really add to the conversation. There are idiots everywhere (here included) - no need to generalise as I don't think I'm especially stupid, nor a circle-jerker.

I am a nerd though. Quite proud of that too :-)
I manage Fractal Audio distributor G66 UK (official distributor of Fractal Audio products in the UK) and am also the guy behind a little accessory company called ZenRigs. I also provide private Fractal related training.

No, you're definitely not stupid mate - it was more referring to the attitude of the (seeming) majority over there, where they gush over everything Cliff says or does, and cannot even comprehend there might be an alternative answer / product / option etc.

The Forum is, erm interesting, they do get a tad upset if you point out some of Fractals shortcomings

There is a clear policy in place here at TFB that states you can only be a member if you are a) stupid b) a circle-jerker or c) a combination of the two. If you managed to become a member without any of these qualities, then you will have to go through a special ceremony of acceptance. This involves 250ml of KY jelly and a frozen turnip sculpted in the shape of a Gibson Firebird X.

    From left to right:

    -stereo input (L/mono and R)
    -stereo output
    -two expression pedal inputs
-the red and white sockets: I thought these might be stereo RCA outputs but I think these are SPDIF in and out connections. In you zoom in, it does seem to say SPDIF underneath so it'd stand to reason that the top label is IN (by the red connector) and OUT (by the white connector).
    -USB C connection
    -MIDI on minijacks.
-9v power and the on/off switch

No Faslink connector so it won't integrate with the FC6 or FC12.

It's got to be an effects unit, surely?

Unlike the original FX8, there doesn’t appear to be “fx loop” ins and outs, so unless you can reassign the stereo in / out to act as a separate loop, this unit can’t do 4CM?

Oh I got into a real argument there when I called out the poor QC on my Luke, they said that there was no way the electronics would fail after 3 days,,,  erm, they did, bless em  ;)

Certainly looks like it, although part of me thinks there must be more to it? I guess the smaller form factor is important for a lot of people and if they've managed to cram multiple blocks all of the effects in the Fractal library in there at a competitive price then that could be great for a lot of players. I'm about to dabble with a tube amp again myself so am curious to see what this ends up being.

I would see this as Fractal’s HX FX, essentially.

I think it’ll have all of the Fractal models in it, sans the amp and cab modelling.

So all pre and post fx with a simplified grid. 7x pre effects and 7x post effects simultaneously, perhaps.

If it has the EQ’s, boosts, tuner and the pitch block, this could be a killer pedal.

For example I have 3 “utility” pedals on my board that aren’t exciting but are essential. If this can take care of those, that’d be stellar. Plus the delays and reverb and choruses etc.

If the price is <£650-750 I think it’ll be a great addition to a board, especially since you could put analogue stuff in front of it etc.

If it’s possible to add expression/control switches, which looks probable, I think it’ll land very well. As with anything it’ll be the price which is the determining factor.

That said, I don’t expect it to be nerfed in any way. I think you’ll get full functionality from the outset.

Going by the size of the Pedaltrain Metro 20 and the Fractal expression pedal there, I'm guessing at around 245mm wide and 191mm deep. It's roughly in the same ballpark as the HX Effects so it's not going to be HX Stomp levels of tiny. One of every effect including the wonderful Megatap would be fine for me. Tonex out front as the amp, Fractal FX and IR loader, MIDI controller to do everything... yes please.

I would be all over this as well.   I had the FX8 but never really bonded with it mostly as it always sounded completely different in a band situation as compared to home, and it was very large/bulky and complicated to use.
