As complete opposite to the real amp thing I’ve just gone Stereo FR!! So 2 x FR-10’s - ok, will get lost in the mix and in the heat of a gig but should hopefully be fun…
    I always go stereo :)

Not using a FRFR backline though (but have in the past) - just stereo to FoH. Really fattens the sound and the effects sound great from the recordings I've been sent.
Yes, always been FOH Stereo but actually doing a few "backline gigs" these days and these little FR-10's are amazing for that.

I go stereo to in ears and mono to FOH. Enhancer on the stereo mix sounds huge. The reason for mono to FOH was past phase issue but I should revisit it really...

I don't generally go stereo to FOH because everyone else hogs the inputs :) but I'd like to. my worry is if things like Enhancer, which is amazing on headphones, gets washed out in the mix?

I use Enhancer on my presets no issues with washout

    +1 for stereo to FOH.

We have a rehearsal space and always rehearse through our mixer and PA so can easily identify any issues. As you say it's great for fattening things up, but it's the effects that really shine

I found the amount of enhancer needed to sound and feel great in ears sounds weird FOH but I may be over doing it...

At our gig today I thought I'd try my Bluguitar Amp1 with AX8 in the loop. Two Notes Captor X into the PA in quasi stereo and also into a Marshall 1x12 cab. Thoughts are....sounded great in FOH and from cab. Not what I'm used to hearing in my in-ears. The Fractal FM9 on the other hand sounds huge in my in-ears. Was there much difference FOH? Probably not so anyone would notice. So there may be a perceptible difference in feel but for the in-ears experience I think it's worth persevering. Also it took me ages to faff about setting it all up today versus 30 seconds setting up my FM9...

Amp tones from the Bluguitar? Or the AX8?

Amp tones from BluGuitar, effects from AX8. The Fractal is great for this because of the scenes facility...

    Hi Guys,

Not much space left in my home studio / mancave.

Would one consider an Original Axe FX-III plus FC12 controller a fair trade for a FM9 Turbo MKII or would cash be required on top??

you want an FM9 Turbo ? I did wonder if the new firmware was pushing the non turbo models a bit

Only because I would rather not have rack and floor unit as need to downsize space wise, and also portability.    I think the original Axe III is still a little more powerful then the FM9 Turbos but I don't do complex patches anyhow

I've had a Helix for 4 months and have used it for a few gigs, but for some reason I have the urge to add an FM3 to my collection  :)

@Brow, let me know if you ever decide to take the leap; just got a FM3 mk2 turbo here which only got me gassing for the big boi rack unit.. bc it’s so good, not bc it’s lacking.
home studio player only these days so  portability  doesn't matter to me

I bought a Helix to go to jams. No way I'd de-rack my AF3.
After a while I couldn't put up with the lower quality modelling, so bought an FM9 - I am very glad I did.

Send me a PM with some details if you want to and I'll see if I can make something work!

The FM9 looks like a great bit of kit, but unfortunately I've not seen 1 anywhere near my budget at the minute so I've had to discount them for now.

New (ish) Kemper and Line6 so how long before the next Fractal toys? VP6? VA (amp)4?!
Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life

A VP8 with all the routing capabilities of the FM9 and the effects horsepower of the AxeFX3 would be nice

    Essentially a brand new FX8!
