I picked up a satin goldtop 2017 Tribute T for £599 from Rediys when they were playing with the prices early summer. Super for the money & nothing wrong with them at all. It is my first ever Gibson so can't compare it to the more expensive versions. I wanted a standard but was never gonna get the money together so went for one of these. Check them out. Depends whether you want a fat or slim neck option, I went the slim hence my choice of guitar but am very happy. Quality is fine.
This post acted as a catalyst for me to pull the trigger. Especially fortheloveofguitar pics & comments on his goldtop. I did same, bought a goldtop and put a poker pc on.

Well worth a read through
Go for it moz. Shame you other end of the country you'd be welcome to take a look at mine. One good thing, you can check the specs of any guitar that interests you on the Gibson website by year, so even if it is a 2015 you can still see whats what on it which is very useful as they do change year to year mostly

And yes, every bit as good as a standard!...
Part of the price is the standard maple as opposed to flame, no gloss finish and no neck binding. That shaves a lot off.
Think the pickups might be cheaper than burstbuckers too.
I think it looks amazing actually, something about the plain maple makes it look great to me.
Really tempted by one of these... Probably wont get hold of a 2017 now, but i'll definitely be checking them out once one of my locals has 2018 stock...
Fantastic les Paul for the money and still my go to Les Paul
Yup... Nothing bad about a Tribute.. they are all made in the same place by the same people with the same materials... All that differs is the thin nitro finish instead of a gloss one, binding and a silkscreen logo.. All cosmetic stuff (and they are a bit thinner than a Standard but that just makes them more fun to play).. They are just as much a LP as any other in the range..
Ive had a tribute since 2011.. Absoloutly love it... I have a Classic a Standard and a DC Special too and really, really the Tribute sounds and plays just as well.
This is my beauty.. Cost me £750 brand new. Total bargain if you ask me.

Indeed.. I have seen several people gloss them up.. But I actually like a satin finish.. Especially on the neck.. You can actually feel the grain of the wood which I really like. A nice tactile feel.

Ohh nice.. And yes.. I don't like the black back version so much.. The first run or two of the tributes had natural backs as mine does.... I think they brought that back this year too.. Actually I just went and looked and they did for the 2018s.. nice natural back http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2018/USA/Les-Paul-Tribute-2018.aspx#LPTR18SGNH1
