If it snows enough in London and the south east that I can't drive around to do my teaching, I am going to be cross.
I can see at least 4 flakes per square inch - that means you’re buggered.
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

Snow in this area is a rare phenomenon indeed.

Now I've said that, they'll probably be about 10 foot of the stuff.

Snow forecast for Ireland on Wednesday and Thursday. And it is to be cold. It is cold now so no change there...

wanna try ad get up on to dartymoor while this cold snap lasts (you can't beat being up somewhere wild and wooly in the biting cold) as we don't get many days like this down here. Working today and tomorrow and possibly weds as well, so hope it lasts till thursday before the rain returns.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

Irony is - I live about 80 miles from the tip of Scotland and yet it looks like the terrible freeze and snow is gonna happen down south in England-shire.

Why do you think it made the national news? ;)

I've just done the shopping here in the hills of mid-Wales and I really do fancy getting snowed in for a day or two, I have about a dozen new songs to learn by the weekend. :)

Forecast where I live - heavy snow, high winds feels like temp -7.

Reality - blue sky, sun feels like temp 0 degrees

More flake news from the Met Office .. :-)

It's been snowing on and off all day in London, quite heavily at times, but not settling at all (at least not centrally).

The only problem is, if one of those flakes lands on a railway track it'll fuck up the entire south east network for a week.

Strewth, thats a very local shower. I'm 15+ miles south as the crow craps and it's overcast and dry. We've had several flurries, one or two sustained but nothing that lasts or settles.

    Strange world innit.

I've seen twenty flakes in south Hampshire which equals the snow we've had since 2010.  Any more and we may have to eat the kids to survive.

Margate - fucking freezing in a north-easterly force 5-6, but bugger-all snow as yet, which suits me fine.

Having lived in York I decided to wear my big coat.

I was toasty warm all day.

Yeah, but the northerners will spend the next five years moaning about haviing to wear their big coat, and how it was worse for them than anyone else
Neither of these cliches being particularly true imo. Having split my life between the north and south fairly equally, I’d say the biggest division in attitudes to snow is city/country.

Just enough snow in Manchester to cover the road and it’s carnage.  Range Rover drivers on 20” low-profile slicks driving everywhere sideways at twice the speed limit like they’re on a Welsh rally stage, everyone else trying to move off from the lights by revving the engine to 6,000RPM and dropping the clutch.  Honestly, it’s like the great snow god in the sky came in the night and removed every last drop of common sense from the entire populace.

Meanwhile up at the folks’ house in the rural north-east, they’ve already had the kind of snow that would trigger a COBRA meeting if it fell on London.  Everyone got up and went to work.

The only north/south split that’s highlighted by snow is how much we all have to hear about it on the news for days on end if it drops on the south-east.
