Looking forward to it, hoping it'll do the original justice
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

    Missing Peter Jones tho'.

Loved the original and have just listened to the John Lloyd program about the original series and the making of the new one, was on R4 at 8pm tonight.

Unsure about this, I felt the 5 series ended the radio show perfectly - far better than the book. I did read "and another thing" and thought it was mostly shite.

    Don’t you mean ‘mostly harmless’?

No, I enjoyed Mostly Harmless but felt the Radio series adaptation of it was better.

'And another thing' was just utter crap.

I was just making a joke of you putting ‘mostly shite.’ Lost in translation, maybe!

I hope they do Marvin Justice, I'm not against actors taking over roles from previous actors - the way they upgraded the guide at the start of season 3 was sublime. Done in a very intelligent way.

Better than I expected! Marvin didn't sound right (Jim Broadbent was a good replacement but he talks too fast) and it's great they've got the majority of the cast from the previous radio series.

Very happy with how they explained the ending of the series 5 radio series, glad it wasn't just ignored.

Tbh, I thought it was poor, trying to be too clever..and I didn't like John Lloyd.

Me too. He just sounds like he's reading a script and it just makes me imagine him reading the script. Not that impressed

+1  But hoping that now the "introductions" are out of the way it will pick up.

As a fan of the original two series, I wanted to like the Hexagonal Phase but it is not easy. It sounded like what it is - a pastiche, constructed from recycled Adams' ideas, almost entirely lacking his turn of phrase.

Adams killed off the characters at the end of "Mostly Harmless" for a reason. The 2004 BBC Radio adaptation chose to ignore this and substitute a *happy* ending. Not for the first time, in order to draw together all of the divergent/contradictory story lines, there has been a whole bunch of explaining.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

I didn't like all the explosions and other sound effects, they just made it hard to listen to. Marvin didn't sound the same but I accepted his new voice when it was made clear that his GPP had been uploaded to a new body (without the pain in the diodes down his left side).
