It may have been discussed before, but are there any webpages etc that discuss the spec and build of these? Like a proper nerdy breakdown of the 58 models?
There are places, but I'm not sure we're allowed to go on about them. To be honest though they don't have quite the same, shall we say, atmosphere.

We do have 4 pages left to break our century, so why not do it here?

    What questions do you have?
Hahah, thanks, I'm not sure yet....is there like a spec breakdown of this run, apart from what is on the sites selling them? I tried to find Gibson's webpage....

You are unlikely to find it on Gibson's website.  The best bet is some of the specialists forums for Les Pauls.  They will have discussed it to death.  There are Les Paul nerds on some of them that are utterly ridiculous.

Good spot. Just for anyone looking at this one, it looks like they've pumped the contrast and clarity quite a bit to accentuate the grain.

As I said yesterday, there are more of these about than you might imagine.

Here's a guitar at Wildwood with the same spec as the UK ones:

That's the one Koch plays in the demo video.

^  edit: no it's not.  The serial number is similar to the category number.  I put 2 and 2 together and made shit.

  • Question of strings - presumably these come with 10s?  They're a bit light for me.  Anyone tried 11s?

Yep, 10s as standard.  Not tried 11s personally.

Whats going on is that all the existing 2017 R8s (that weren't part of the batch coming over from Gibson over stock), have now been reduced to match the £2499 price. Gibson basically gave money back to the retailers so that can sell all their stock at the levels of the "overstock" ones.

When GG were sold out of the £2499 ones they still had £4000 ones of IDENTICAL spec, which they would not reduce as they had originally paid more for them. This anomaly has now been fixed. like I said about 93 pages ago.. what we're seeing here is a complete re-pricing of the whole R7/R8/R9 class of custom shop guitars in my humble. ..

I think they may do that deal on 2017 stock, but it doesn't explain why Peach and others still have 2017 R8s/R9s at full price.

Certainly not the best photos on the Richtone ones. Same as GG in that it’s better to ring and get a few iPhone shots in good lighting

The R0 I had in mind looked pretty poor on the GG site yet the iPhone pics told a complete different story and was a cracking looking beast

I preferred the 8lb top to all of them! Strange how we all gravitate towards different things.

    The 9Ib beast

9lb would have been bang on the money a month ago, and certainly not considered a beast.

I find myself playing my 8lb 12oz washed cherry more than the 8lb 5oz iced tea.

    It has.....err........more "gravitas"
