Michael MacDonald is involved again - the whole of the backing vocals segment from this episode of BBC Rockschool from 2:20 onwards is illuminating and informative, but the final song they do from 6:20 ish is really special, far better than the record.

    Everything by the Eagles.

    I don't know that one.
I do know Something by the Beatles, though.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - 4 Way Street is how to do it live.

Crowded House have some great stuff, including the Woodface album with Neil and Tim Finn doing their thing.

The Hollies weren't bad, were they.

That was a guilty pleasure of mine for many years, not feeling so guilty about it now.  They could do it live too - there's a YT clip of them on the Midnight Special and if anything the vocals are even better than on the recording.

It was the height of uncool at the time though...

BTW did you know the inspiration for the song was was a dessert the band spotted on the menu in a diner?

I don’t care what anyone says, this is one of the all time great pop songs. The harmonies when they perform live are absolutely impeccable

First three Kings X albums. Amazing that they could pull it off live.

Someone's already mentioned Kate & Anna McGarrigle, "Talk to me of Mendocino" is for me their finest hour. I've listened to this thousands of times and the crescendo around 1:30 gets me every time.
