Cheap Fuzz Face options?

I'm using the Fuzz Face model on my iStomp at the mo and it sounds great, but I want just a little bit more room on my board...

so - Are any of the tiny things like the Mooers any good?

I think the iStomp model is based on the Hendrix signature - they've certainly tried to give the app photo the same hammered blue colour!

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

To be honest, used Dunlops (full size and mini) are pretty cheap.

Get a good BC108 Fuzz Face off EBay etc from a decent small builder or if any does a kit.  Due to the tinkering needed to get the circuit to balance nicely most mass line producers don't tend to do fuzz faces.

I can make a 1590B size one silicon, germanium or hybrid. Do not forget fuzz pedals are better with batteries, carbon zinc if possible and they last for ages.

The poodle pedal parts original fuzz face PCB is tiny and would fit in a 1590a enclosure - it can be wired for Pnp transistors which is useful as theres not enough space for a battery.

The real pig is drilling the enclosure - Ive got a jig I use for the 4 hole pedals I'm making.. I need another one for standard pots.

For non Diy theres the PiggyFX - a mk2 tonebender but still good, the grey faze for germanium and blue faze for sillicon or yhe zvex fuzzolo for sillicon
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

I think I'm going to try the Mooer Blue Faze.

That Zvex sounds awesome though! Just not quite convinced about not having a Fuzz control.

Mine was very noisy with the fuzz control turned up. Mine's the only one I've tried, dunno if I got a duff one or if they're all like that.

Mmm. That would be very annoying!

The best thing about the iStomp is that there is hardly any noise at all.

Yeah. And I only paid MarcMart prices for it, too. At UK prices I'd probably just bite the bullet and save a bit more for a known decent one, unless you needed it to be super-tiny.

I bought a fuzzface on ebay by Tonegasm, he/they sell a couple a month & go for around £25. It a silicon fuzz with an added bias control, it sits happily next to my much more expensive Cornell 1st fuzz. For £25 odd it can't be beat.

    It has a drive knob.

I would get the zvex personally
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

The PGS demo said the Zvex did not have a drive knob - it's a waveform knob and fuzz level is controlled by the guitar volume.

Had a grey faze exactly like this.

+1 for Forge, I have one of his germainium fuzz face pedals in an mxr sized box and I can't recommend it highly enough. He can put some very useful little extra features in for you too. It has beaten a sun face and an oxfuzz 2, to get on my board! I also have another forge fuzz pedal so can confirm build and sound quality are consistently high. Plus Oli is a great guy to deal with.
