Has something happened to YouTube video linking?

Until as recently as a week ago, I used to be able to copy YouTube URLS into a post, and they would appear as a still that linked to the video. Now when I do it, the pasted URL appears as text.

Looking at the html code, the link used to include a reference to YT's video thumbnail.

Has something happened that I don't know about, and is there a better way to do video links?

When you first post a comment, it'll just show the link. When you refresh, it shows the whole video.
