Hi guys

Just wondered if there where any Fender experts out there that could give me an idea on how much a blackface vibrolux would be worth at the moment??

I've got a 1966 that i'm thinkin about moving on. It has the original Jensen C10 speakers, recapped, 3 prong cord. It has a few tears in the grill cloth but apart from that its in good condition. It sounds fantastic but a new house in the near future may force a sale unfortunately. I can post a pic later if that helps

Cheers

Hazarding a guess, depending on condition I think you should get around £1500 for it.. but it's not a seller's market at the mo..

My friend sold his one, and it was totally original and in errr better condition than yours :) for £2200 but Vintage and Rare were selling a similar one for £2600 - that was last year. One of the best amps I've ever played through. These seem to be more popular than Twins and Pro Reverbs as they're lighter and more portable, yet loud enough to stay clean.

Quick sale - I reckon  £1800-2000. Can someone like Sounds Great do a valuation for you?

I wouldn't bother - there are no vintage experts there. They don't like (or certainly never used to like) doing commission sales.

I think this is too specialist for most 'local' retailers.

I'd approach Vintage & Rare, Wunjo and the like, to try to get a gauge off them. It might be worth sticking in the back of Guitarist and seeing what response you get.

Edit: This is the SRV amp of choice. Should be lots of Guitarist readers interested....

I thought he used a brown Vibroverb?

Knopfler used a Vibrolux on the first couple of Dire Straits albums I think… although I'm not an expert on that either.

Nope - Blackface. Two to be precise (+ a Dumble & a Marshall...)

MK was using Music Mans (Men?) by the second album. On the first it's believed he used a Brownface Vibroverb/Vibrolux, though he also used a Roland Jazz Chorus and a Twin Reverb - IIRC these amps belonged to Basing Street studios.

Well I've got a 78 silverface. I think that's market value is around £1000. Blackfaces seem to be about £1400-2000, but again, it all depends on what someone is willing to pay.

I know one thing, mine will never get sold.

http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/products/Fender-Black-Face-Vibroverb-Original-1964-Second-Hand.html Sounds Great are a store I like, but they aren't cheap. Different Vintage Fender, but I'd be inclined to think 25% off what they are selling the above for wouldn't be far off market value.

Sounds about right, although that Vibroverb may be overpriced as it's sadly been ruined from a value point of view with some cheap plastic end handles.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the very same amp was for sale for months at Tone World for £1995. It didn't sell...

How convenient when they sell something that isn't as original as it's supposed to be.
