Here you all go! for those who are interested, heres a collection of all the originals that i've recorded so far (demos(ish)... I'd really appreciate it if some of you would be willing to take 25 minutes out of your day to give them a listen and tell me what you think to them :) Also they could help with revision if you're in exam time and need a bit of a kick! haha :)

Thanks guys ;)

ok...well, firstly anyone who can play and record some songs deserves credit,

Regarding the songs,I liked some but on the whole the overall sound didnt do much for me im afraid, I found the vocal sound a bit samey throughout, I guess i found the last 2 more appealing than the others.

I thought the riffs were catchy and would like to hear a what some would sound like a bit fatter, maybe try experimenting with some different reverbs etc?

I am no producer or such like, so I am only giving an opinion on what I hear, which is what you posted for I guess.

I have posted a link to some stuff we did about 20 years ago, so you can have a go at mine too !

    Good luck

I enjoy writing and recording songs...I think it can be a valuable insight into the whole business of arranging/finding out what sounds work and how it all knits together...

The bit I find difficult personally is the level of singlemindedness, soul- wringing, effort and determination required in order to produce something you believe in when 90% of people who hear it don't much care either way.

But I love doing it and that's enough.

And maybe the next song I write will be better...

thanks for the feedback :) i know exactly what you mean :) this was my first proper attempt at writing and stuff though and i thought i'd start off relatively low key :P its not been properly done in a studio yet though, so ive got that to look forward to at some point! :) then it should be a lot more interesting (i hope) :P

Any advice is much appreciated, and i'll take it on board and have a bit more of a push with the vocals! but 5/8 of the tracks were written, recorded and scored in 2 weeks (university portfolio deadline) (that was interesting... ahha), so the first 5 tracks were a bit more rushed :P
Ive got plenty more in the pipeline though and i'll keep posting it up when i get it sorted and then it might be slightly more to your liking! :)
Thanks again, any more opinions from anyone else are greatly appreciated too :)

Another thing...I wish - when I was younger - I'd been aware of the idea of developing a persona (not for myself - I figured I'd live without one) as the man singing the songs I'd written. I think it helps give focus and direction to what you're trying to evoke with the songs...and you can kind of step out of yourself and into someone more self-assured.

i know exactly what you mean! Thats more of a live thing however. But when im live, i always seem to be the eccentric who does stupid things (for example jumping off stage... or rolling around on the floor)... and im the singer/guitarist, so everyone just has to follow my lead on it! :P I really enjoy live shows as its an escape to this crazy mentality of 'its rock n roll so i can do this' and no-one else cares! :) Thats one of the things that im glad im learning early and am able to implement in a number of ways! :) Its just the issue of the eccentric side of me spilling into everyday life thats tough to manage... people don't mind it too much though, so i can manage :D
