Either that, or the lab you sent it to are crap.
I've not had trouble with them before, so hopefully your first point is correct  :)
If the film type and frame numbers are showing as normal, you can rule the lab out as part of the problem

    Managed to get one in.

Remembered the good old Epi Casino Coupe in the music room and decided to try an arty shot outside. It was cloudy, windy and a bit miserable and decided to go for the slightly mute coloured vintage sort of shot. Yeah, well anyway...

I fire off a few shots.. wind picks up a bit and the photographer's dilemma kicks in. Keep shooting or see if the guitar will stay upright?

One gust later.. and another dilemma.. shoot it falling or go try to stop it...

I was indecisive, and mid lunge I fired this one off...

    Lol.....

My Strat was originally Olympic white but is now a cool creamy colour - the scratch plate was white but is now a minty green colour. It's my go toguitar for the last 20 years. The pic has no post processing.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

  • Kind of off-topic, but it is photography related: a while back I entered a Fujifilm competition - sent them three photos, they entered me into a draw to win a camera; I'll get prints of each of the photos, and they'll pick their favourites for an exhibition in London at the end of the month. Found out this afternoon that they've picked two of my photos for the exhibition! I'm beyond chuffed :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

Ha! Well actually I'm not 100% sure what I sent to them now - I think it was these three. Definitely the last one, purely because I wanted a print of it :)

Just thought I’d say - really good first round - every shot entered stood up on its own merits and the voting shows people’s opinions wildly differ which points to a great spread of great images.

Well done to @beed84 for setting it up too..

Everyone else - have a go next time round - it’s fun, and we aren’t here to criticise either

Congratulations. Not just to the winners but all who made the effort to enter and @beed84 for putting in all the work to let us have it.

I will definitely make some time to create something for the next one

Ah shucks, thanks guys. To know that it's appreciated means that's it's worth doing. And to be honest, it has been a healthy and much needed distraction

Also, while I've got your attention, I have a couple of suggestions. As follows...

First, how about we keep this thread as a comment thread for ALL competitions i.e. 'PHOTO COMPETITION COMMENTS THREAD'? The thread could be suitably segmented with a comment from me e.g, COMMENTS FOR PHOTO COMPETITION #2 (or just leave it open if you prefer). Although we won't have a dedicated comments section for each comp, it would keep things to a minimum and is there if you want to use it.

Secondly, it's not really as suggestion, but something I'm going to do. I will be putting up a WINNERS thread. This will be a non-comment scrap-book of all the first place winners throughout all competitions. @poopot will be the first to grace us with us his excellent snap.

Lastly, to make this more competitive, how about a "points win prizes" scheme? £5 entry fee for the whole year, and whoever wins (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) gets photography/guitar vouchers of some description. Some costs could also go towards the upkeep of the Forum, too. I did mention this in the "idea pooling" but not sure if it was acknowledged.) Given that 17 have entered so far, there would be currently £85 in the kitty. However, where I money is involved, I know it can complicate matters, so I'll understand if it's not feasible, or if people are not on board with the idea. Forget I ever said anything.

Other than that, I'm glad you're all enjoying yourselves

  • Ive loved looking at the photos and its given me real inspiration to get my DSLR out and do something with it.  I agree with the idea or a WINNERS thread for prosperity. Would be good if the winning picture can be moved to that thread so build up a collection of the months winners.  However I don't agree with the entry fee business.  It puts me off bothering and could well put off other casual snappers who might otherwise be in for a bit of fun.

Personally I’d keep it free to enter. If you introduce charging I suspect the entries would take a massive dip. Keep it free and just for fun.  ;)

If you were feeling adventurous you could set up a Flickr pool for all entries for posterity. There’s some really great shots in the first round and it would be nice to have them all in one place
