Still trying to process this one....

I loved the Crowes but I'm not really sure how I feel about this. It seems like more of a new thing than a "reunion", particularly given the absence of any of the ex-members who are still available.
    That was my thought.

Steve Gorman isn't very happy about it:

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I guess @mrkb could be right in that not having anybody from the brothers' solo groups might be a political compromise. Who knows, they might make it through the tour without splitting up!

The thing that shocked me was getting Tim Lefebvre in on bass! That guy's a bloody monster. Saw him with Wayne Krantz in an almost empty club and he absolutely killed it. A wonderful player who seems to move from hardcore jazz to rock without any trouble and plays everything brilliantly.

Particularly because of Lefebvre, I'd be far more interested in this if they were recording new material. I'm also not too thrilled at yet another band doing a "classic album in full" tour. I'd sooner hear more stuff from the subsequent albums. They seem to be playing decent sized arenas so fair play to them I suppose. I definitely hear the sound of a money maker being enthusiastically shaken!
Isaiah Mitchell (I love Earthless) is capable of playing a long guitar solo too. As we've discussed before Marc, Steve Gorman, Eddie Harsch RIP etc. are as responsible for their sound as the brothers.

I'll see them but I'd prefer the classic lineup (plus a keyboardist obv.). I've got Steve Gorman's book but have
a couple of others to finish before I can wade in. Maybe that will reveal something.

I Love these guys, such swagger! Would love to see them in the UK, even better if they were to headline Steelhouse festival as I already have tickets! C'mon Steelhouse!

  • I'm two thirds of the way through Steve Gorman's book. If you haven't got it yet... you need to get it. Incendiary stuff. A lot of weird stuff explained.

Post 2005 gets glossed over a little but a great read. It's clear Steve has gone through a theraputic process but it's enabled him to take some responsibility too. Cracking read anyway but especially if you love the band.

They can't stand each other! Just a moneymaking tour really.

Standing is the best option - how will you dance and make air guitar shapes if you sit down?? If you're sitting you might as well be watching it on a DVD.

  • If those ticket prices are correct, I'll be giving it a miss.

Was looking forward to it too but that's insane.

  • That pricing has reduced my enthusiasm somewhat.

Quite a few people saying they would prefer Marc Ford back in there, and I love his playing including his solo stuff, but Isaiah Mitchell is a staggering player. Have a listen to Uluru Rock by Earthless to give you an idea.

  • Managed to get a couple of tickets for the Glasgow gig, be amazed if they fill the Hydro, 13 thousand seats seems a bit of a stretch for them.

Last time I saw them with Audley, they were playing a student union! They were amazing that night.

Saw them at Donington as well back in the day, great band.

I've only just read that Isaiah Mitchell's in the band.  I've never really warmed to the Black Crowes, although I have a lot of their albums, but Mitchell's almost enough to make me want to see them.... I just hope he hasn't abandoned Earthless or Golden Void.

Well I did rebook and they’ve now put the gigs back another year to 2022. Might as well fly to America to see them.... oh.
