Luthiers in Essex

What's Hot
hello everyone, does anybody know any good luthiers in Essex? I need to refret my Strat and have other guitars which need various bits of work. Has anybody tried JB Guitars in Writtle?

Not much, to be fair

My friend has just had some work done on his Les Paul by a guy near Brentwood and he's pleased with it. I'll find out who it was and update this thread

Dave at Essex amp Repairs is a perfectly good guitar Tech .....but not the standard that could build a fine acoustic from scratch ......if that's what you want go to Haim at L.A. Guitars in whetstone N20 N . London - only 15 mins from M25

  • Try Bob Johnson of Legra guitars fame. He certainly knows his stuff and is a great bloke. He will give you a no-nonsense appraisal of your instruments. He is in Leigh on sea

I'm not sure who is in the South part of Essex, but we get a lot of players from thereabouts making the trek down to us in Croydon.

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.
Stockist of: Earvana & Graphtech nuts, Faber Tonepros & Gotoh hardware, Fatcat bridges. Highwood Saddles.

Pickups from BKP, Oil City & Monty's pickups.

  • +1 for Feline. If you time the traffic right on the M25 it's worth it and if you time the parking around the corner it's an inexpensive drop off and collection. Feline will sort yer fiddles out good.

Chris who works out of Strings Direct's HQ in Rochford. He's absolutely brilliant, I've been going to him for years for all sorts of work and it's always been first rate.

Another shout for Robbie Gladwell/Dr Roberts guitar surgery, but expect it to take a while as he's typically very busy.

Also in that area and busy building his own guitars is Martyn Booth, but he does take in the odd repair. Again there is often a waiting list.
