I really like R7s and R8s and think that for a few hundred quid more than a Standard you somehow get 'more' of a guitar. If you look long and hard you could pick one up for £1500-£1800 - there was an R7 for sale near me a few months ago for £1350 but it weighed over nine and a half pounds which is too heavy for me. If I'm considering a R7 or R8 I'll always ask the weight and steer clear if it's more than an ounce or two over nine pounds. 

I wouldn't want to put you off the Traditional mentioned above though, it sounds a lovely guitar and may turn out to be the partner of your dreams. Good luck with the search!
