So, very quickly ...
It's done!
Slightly less quickly ...
Neck fixed to body with a couple of these;
And body strung through. You might thing that the string-thru ferrrules are slightly off centre. Because they are. The drill bit wandered as I drilled through from the top.
Bolt heads are recessed into the body, as is the jack socket
Both the nut and the bridge are simply bolts with the heads cut off. Here's the nut, part way through being cut into a groove which will keep it, more or less, in the right place.
The bridge is exactly the same. How to get a ground wire to it??
Drill a hole through the middle of it an solder a ground wire into the hole!
That piece of wood was originally going to be the base for the bridge, with a groove cut into it (like the nut). But, having done that, the action was way way too high, and I ended up carving a groove into the top of the cap instead;
Both bridge and nut can still be a fair bit lower.
And that's it.
The bridge is obviously offset deliberately - intonation!!
It's actually pretty loud acoustically (as you'd expect with that body construction!). It's all fairly rough & ready. But then I did it without any plans or drawings and just made it up as I went along with the intention of trying to get it done in a couple of days.
In total, it's probably taken about twice as long, though most of the extra time was due to me un-doing the various mistakes that I made (quite possibly because I didn't have plans or drawings!).
I'll probably end up trashing the body and making another one to re-use the neck and other bits. At some point.
It was an interesting self-challenge. Now I'm going back to building some more amps & cabinets.
I hadn't thought of that option @MattNovak! At least, not until you suggested it!! I wonder what timber I've got lying around ....
