• Off street parking
  
• Out in the sticks/no street lights
  
• Kitchen/Diner
  
• Decent sized room (4m x 3m?) on gnd floor for use as music room. If property is not detached this must not be on an adjoining wall
• Decent sized room (4m x 3m) on any floor for use as lounge
• Not near airfield, railway line, major road or other noise source 

Nice if

• Older style, with character
  
• Has garage
• Looks out onto farmland
  
• The lounge is also not on an adjoining wall

Properties requiring cosmetic improvement considered, likewise requiring mod-con upgrades. Must be habitable, not requiring structural work.

This is the latest rewrite of description to be given to estate agents. Makey sense? Asking too much?

So, there's this really nice flat that's just come on the market, city centre, "convenient" for the station and with "easy access" to the A14.  Recently built, so the rooms are "cosy", but that just makes it economical to heat.

heh heh ain't that just likely! methinketh I might be asking just a bit much but ATM I can't see my way to reconfiguring the house I'm living in now

Actually mine fails on your second point as there are street lights. 

I live on Abbot road. It's a very nice place to live and you don't have to go much further West to get to fields (about 200m). 

There are a few with boards up on my road. 

If you want to live out of the town Thurston is worth a look as it's a bit more in the sticks and a bit cheaper. I used to live in Pakenham which is a fantastic village, but it costs a lot to buy there.

Looks like Thurston is expensive too ... seems like I'd need a mortgage to move and a fair bit of finance-that-isn't-mine in order to reconfigure the house I'm living in. The phrase involving rocks and hard places comes to mind

Bury is one of the most expensive places in Suffolk.
