It’s only creepy if you look at it with the ‘cynical world weary goggles’ that we all, including myself, seem to wear all the time.

I play and gig with a Hello Kitty strat; from hardcore vintage biker bars to primary schools, and without exception people seem to love it; especially the kids. So despite our engrained general malaise with the world, don’t forget that something as dumb as a pink guitar with a cat on it actually causes more joy than pain.

What is it with Hello Kitty guitars? From what I have read they are supposedly in demand - is there something about them that makes them particularly good?

It's pink with a Hello Kitty pickguard ! But seriously,no there's nothing remarkable about them but they are quite "cult"

The quality of the guitar itself is nothing special but perfectly usable if you can cope with the narrow neck.

It’s a fun guitar to play and gets a great reaction from the audience. If you consider playing guitar as a form of entertainment then it’s  a good tool to elicit a certain reaction from people.

I like to think it's because of the lack of hard tail 1h guitars in the market.

Watched a bit but I'm at work. Seems like fun, I'll come back later. I really want a pink hello kitty guitar, maybe I'll make one.

I've never heard Post Malone and would have assumed his music didn't feature much guitar, but love that solo he plays at the end of this clip.

It’s just the kitsch element I think. I bought my daughter one when she was about 14. It was pretty dire, especially the neck but it looked pretty cool. She lost interest in it fairly quickly and ended up gathering dust, so eventually I sold it on.

I bought one for my daughter a while back, she's way too young for it at the moment so it's in it's box under the bed:

Might use some of the lockdown time to give it a proper setup, as there was a fret that needed reseating last time it was out of the box a couple of years ago
