Just bought a guitar to a member here from jersey isle to France 
but UPS ask me vat (377 euros) 

the seller knows the rules for me but didn’t inform me at all ...

what do you think ?

My understanding is that recipient’s customs charges are recipient’s responsibilities. What guitar was it?

Buyers responsibility to check when importing anything.

No seller can be expected to know the Vat rules in every buyer country.

Jersey is not inside the EU for VAT purposes so VAT would be payable by the buyer.
