    Crap... That's very sad news. :'(

    He really was one of my favourite actors.. I never saw him put a foot wrong. I can't believe he was 88, he seemed so much younger. So many great films under his belt from Alien, The Lord of the Rings, Garden State, The 5th Element... the list is endless. Truly one of the finest actors of his generation.

    He was particularly good in The Sweet Hereafter.  RIP.

    I was surprised to hear this today, I also hadn't realised he was 88, although looking at recent photos his illness had aged him greatly.
