This is the 62nd solo of the Month (SotM) Challenge.

The challenge is now open ends at midnight 24th August 2020.

You can download backing track from Soundcloud below:

Record your solo over the top of it and then submit it (ideally in mp3 format) to solos@theFB.co.uk
Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.

Discussion:
A 'movie theme' style backing track.

Title: Top Fun
It's possible to play the melody of a certain well known film over this. But the idea is to come up with a new epic solo.

Tempo: 113 bpm.

Chords:
[C / / / |Csus4 / / / | C / / / |C2 / / /
|C / / / |Csus4 / / / | C / / / |Bb / / /
|C# / / / |C#2 / / / | C# / / / |C#sus4 / C# /
|C# / / / |C#2 / / / | C# / / / |E / / / ]
Repeat above
End on C

The backing track has some headroom to add your solos. Add your solo and (as a guideline) try to avoid boosting the overall level beyond that if possible. That way the entries should be at roughly the same level and we won't get into loudness wars.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.

Is it just me or does it sound a bit like bagpipes in places , giving it a bit of a Big Country feel.

Lol, Bagpipes certainly wasn't the intended outcome. At certain points, I double tracked the Guitar so I could sustain one note and wobble or bend the other. The Chorus effect probably helped along as well as my ham-fisted mastery of Trem Arm

Ok, but, if I don't hear something resembling a Dulcitone I will be very disappointed.

    Yes...properly butchered!

If you want a spotter’s badge, I think there’s another three steals in there (although one is a bit obscure) ;)

    Sent one in.

    My technique:

    1. Melted in the boiling temps all day
    2. Stripped off my sweaty clothes down to my birthday suit
    3. Picked up the guitar
    4. Hit record
    5. 2 days later
    6. Deleted that appalling mess and started again (with clothes)

Added to playlist. I assume the title (Naked Prayers) is associated with step 2 in your approach. My prayer is that there isn't a video to go with this.

Lol, no videos.  In actual fact since being in lock down and my frequency of playing has gone from virtually 1 gig per week and band practice and personal noodling to barely any playing I actually discovered my finger tips have gone really soft and they hurt when I played just for 30mins!  I was in shock.  Need to up my practice numbers.
