Bass guitar build

I'm playing bass more often these days, so it's about time I built one. My first neck-thru design, all woods (including the laminate neck) from David Dyke.

I thicknessed the neck from 60 to 50 mm using a router sled, cut the headstock angle and marked up the important details on the neck.

Then routed the slots for the truss rod and a pair of carbon rods.

Next step was to make the headstock template - not so much to decide the final shape, but to make sure that the machine heads were in the right place.

The two wings were delivered as a single piece of wood. I don't have a table saw and was concerned that doing it by hand might be a long process...

...but it only took a few minutes. My band-saw blade is getting on a bit. I had planned to replace it before this build, but it is happy to cut the mahogany.

Next steps will be to cut out the wings, thickness to 35mm (top is 15mm thick) and glue on the top. I may do some weight relief along the way.

Yes, Tru oil - brings out the figure in the wood beautifully.
