One for the DIYers who are capable and safe when delving inside their valve amps. (If you're not, find a local tech!)

This is a high-voltage FX loop for Marshall 50W/100W-type amplifiers (1987, 2203, 1959, etc). It comes in the form of a ready-assembled board and has a switch to work with low-level and line-level FX boxes. It can be adopted to work in other types of valve amp, but would need a little more thinking about where/how to splice it into the existing circuit.

Loooonnnnggg forum thread about installations in Marshalls, Ceriatones, etc: http://forum.metropoulos.net/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=22189

It's the Rev4 (2017) version, and all of them are unused (uninstalled and still in the static-proof bag that Metropoulos supplied).

I have a few of these, bought in for a project that I decided not to follow up on. I've written off the value of these, so I've decided to discount them to a £20 donation to the forum (instead of the usual $60 at Metro).

Easiest way to do this is:
    1. Make your donation to the forum's PP account: admin@thefretboard.co.uk
    2. Take a screenshot of the successful transaction
    3. PM me with the screenshot and your delivery address
    4. I'll post it out within a couple of days

  • Wonder if this would work in my Victory Sheriff 44?
that loops not very good and wondered if this would
    a. Fit
    b. Be compatible
    c. Improve fx loop performance

Any forum members who can advise pls?

Hmmm... given the PCB approach, with soldered-in jack sockets, even (a) might be tricky to achieve.

  • Hi,

I presume one of these could be fitted in a Ceriatone Chupacubra?

    Hi,

Most definitely, but - as always - it's a question of attention to detail and making the necessary connections in the right place. That requires some research - see that loonngg thead (link above). For an amp tech, it'd be relatively trivial. There are many DIY successes among the Metroamp users, but many of those will be straightforward installations into non-MV Marshalls, following the original instructions.

The hardest part would be to make the mounting holes (a job I hate doing in an assembled amp chassis!)
