SOLD: Cornell Plexi 18/20 head, £750 shipped

The Cornell 18/20 is a handbuilt tone monster, giving you classic Plexi tones at sensible volumes, whether gigging or playing at home. Read the ToneQuest report for the full lowdown on this classic amplifier, which has sadly been discontinued. This amp is in full working order and comes with a padded cover.

£750, shipped in UK (RRP was £1,195). Would consider a p/x for a Laney LA30BL.

The 18/20 Plexi is Denis Cornell's highly-regarded take on the solid state rectified 20W Marshall 2061X, with the added versatility of being able to switch to a valve rectifier for an 18W Marshall 1974X-style circuit.

This portable amp head features two independent channels, both with Hi/Lo inputs, Volume and Tone control. Other features include a 20 watt output which is switchable down to 5 watts depending on your requirements, and a 'Cornell-Cream Box' to eliminate crossover distortion. The 18/20 head is constructed from plywood.

Class A Push pull Cathode bias.

Valve Complement:
2 x ECC83
2 x EL84
1 x GZ34

Output:
High 20 watts
Low 5 watts

Trip to Exeter this weekend now cancelled. My son's uni course will now be online due to Covid. You can imagine his delight at having to live at home with his parents and feral sister for another nine months...

  • I was going to say enjoy! I just ripped on mine for a good hour and a half. JEM -> 18/20 -> Ox + 90s Yamaha reverb enough to make a bad day bearable.
