On now on BBC4. Anoushka Shankar playing sitar on Live at the Proms. Superb. Her Dad would have been 100 this year. It's a beautiful instrument.

    Sitars can be heirloom instruments, handed down in the family. The cushion protects from scratching. It also stops the gourd from rattling against the floor in the same way that an acoustic guitar body would.
