Wow, you might just have lit a serious fire under the arse of a lot of snakeoil/voodoo sellers.
Now all I need is the skills & ability to swap pickups & I'll be a potential customer (any zebra bobbins?)  ;)

Very cool! Do you have any suggested "matched pairs" from the range at all?

    Hmmmm...
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Not really.
Any set 1k resistance apart should make a good volume match, with magnets chosen to taste.

That will be sorted in the near future.

No such thing - they were made all over the place, hence all the different interpretations of PAFs over the years. Any one of the options could conceivably be a pickup that existed in '59.

  • Bloody hell, can’t imagine how you make them at that price point but well done for trying! Now I just need something to put them into...

  • Wow! Ordered a couple. These came at the perfect time. Was on the lookout for some PAF types but was never quite sure what to get. Can't go wrong at that price point.

I always buy my humbucker covers from you @Alegree , they're the most sonically transparent ones I've found, so I'm sure these pickups will have all the liveliness and complexity they should have.

Very tempted, even though I don't have a guitar to put them in at the moment!

  • That sounds really interesting Alex! What's the story with these (and the other old timers) - are they wound to your specs outside the UK?

Shame I'm sorted for my two PAF guitars, would love to give these a go.

  • Based on how quickly those 7k wounds have sold out I think it shows just how popular low winds are becoming. Might even be worth adding 6.5k to the range?

As much as I'd love that to be true, they're not in stock yet - should be arriving this coming week (as are 8.5k)

These aren't the same covers, these are from OX4 - '57 PAF cover clones. No copper layer between the electroplating and metal beneath, they'll be more transparent.

Some are (like this one, I've gone back and forth with my supplier to make them exactly the way I want them). Some are designed to the typical popular specs off the shelf.
