Great Outros

Funny, I was thinking about posting this the other day then @Rocker posted about intros. Great minds, perhaps?

These might not be earth shattering in the grand scheme of things but for me they each have their own qualities that mean a lot to me.

U2 - With or without you. To be played loud, with the bass up.

https://youtu.be/ujNeHIo7oTE

Bryan Adams - Everything I do. I love the Keith Scott guitar tone here.

Bryan Adams - Thought id died and gone to heaven. No proper reason I guess apart from loving the layered chorus/delay driven guitars in the background. Although it does come at the end of one of my favourite tracks

Oasis - Some might say. My 2nd favourite oasis song so it probably doesn’t need an introduction. I think because this one is full on from about 20 secs in there’s nothing overly special about it (sentimental reasons for me though). Perhaps just a fitting end for a belter of a tune when the band was their “peak”

Outro solo by Randy Rhoads on Tonight. Fades out way too soon but epic none the less!!

Half of Rainbow’s songs - the ones they couldn’t work out how to end. Fantastic fadeouts!
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

    Layla.

Anyone who doesn't like it is either deaf or might as well be.

Beautiful extended outro, from around 2:10

It’s like they wrote a great song and someone stuck their piano homework in the end as a cruel joke....

Great outros; Dani California,  Strange Town by the jam, Lewis by Radiohead, Paranoid Android, Just.

  • Layla is horrible, with that wailing slide guitar. Sounds like a cat being ritually slaughtered while Liberace practices piano in the backgound.

    Def Leppard- Animal.

She’s a Rainbow by the Stones, with deliberate avant garde silliness scored by John Paul Jones no less.

    Hey Jude.

And the winner, ladies and germs, Strawberry Fields Forever.

Must nominate Mike Campbell's repeated six-note riff at the end of Boys Of Summer. Perfect distillation of the entire song. From 4.00.

  • Jeff Skunk Baxter on the outro solo on How Do Fools Survive from about 3:25. The compressor is a bit clicky but it sort of works in the track.

    It's not a competition.

Not so sure it is great, or cliche but surely the live version of Freebird  deserves a mention in some form or another
