LED for pedal + Resistor? Wanted

I recently bought a fuzz and the damn thing has no on/off light. I've never built a pedal before but want to have a go at drilling and fitting a led to it (battery powered)

Has anyone a spare led and resistor knocking around i could buy?

Bear in mind you may also need a new switch, depending on what is fitted already.

I knew it was a fuzz - if it was branded then there may have been a circuit mod already posted inc led / resistor values and  switch type recommendations  as well as go to parts / suppliers etc .

Buy a selection of resistors. The right value can be anywhere between 1K and about 22K depending on the inherent brightness of the LED and how bright you actually want it.

The Around The Moon Records bonetender mk1.5 is a  silicon mk1.5 tonebender clone. Hand wired . True I just use the 4.7 as it comes with most of the kits and seems fine to me.

Can you tell Des which leg is positive, ie the short or long leg

Long leg goes to +V
Ive put loads of these on old Mxr pedals, using a 1.5K resistor works well with standard 5mm red led,drawing about 5mA current, its bright enough

Can anyone think of a reason why I couldn't take an led  and  the resistor from a not being used compressor pedal?

Because it will trash the compressor pedal, and an LED and resistor will cost you a few pence.
