Removing vocals from pre-record tracks? Isotope RX8

Watched the demo of Izotope   RX8 - where Glenn  Fricke used the music rebalancer module n simply removed a vocal track - the results were excellent based on the video .
Is anyone using this or know of anything similar in function n preferably as cheap as possible?

I use RX8, previously I used RX7.

It doesn't always work completely- sometimes you are left with remnants of reverb tail or other artefacts.

The best version of this technology I've heard is DeMIX Pro from Audio Sourcere. There's also Hit 'n Mix Infinity, which is bonkers but quite hard to get your head around, and various options from Audionamix.

Probably the best of the cheaper options is Audionamix XTRAX STEMS.

Glenn Fricker's video was marked as a paid promotion, so I'd take his results with a pinch of salt. I guess he ran RX8 on a number of files and chose the best.

I've done it in Audacity with limited results using their filter and the old fashioned way (reverse phase of one side of stereo and save as mono) also with limited results.

The most success I've had has been with Spleeter. My entry in the recent cover competition on this website (Genie in a Bottle) contained vocals from the original recording. Spleeter separates stems too.

Cheers all - I’m now singing lead vocals with a covers lineup and want clean backing tracks to practice with  and refine my style / voice - n also to showcase some left of centre material that others aren’t too sure about .. yet :-) 

As a guitarist these tools will prove invaluable ..
