StrangefanStrangefan Frets: 5852
Hi all, got my s01 yesterday, absoloutly brillaint acoustic, however it seems totally unfinished, it has a flame walnut back and sides which just begs  to be shown off, I have some proper danish oil I used for another guitat a while ago , how'ver would it be suitable for the sheeran back sides and neck??

Any one have any knowledge ?

Thanks in advance

    I doubt its that unfinished.

Put a small drop of white spirit on it, does it soak in or sit on the surface?

If it soaks in, oil away.

Although I would avoid oil finishes on a soundboard as they tend to soak into the spruce and dry quite slowly..

I'd be very surprised if it's actually unfinished wood.  I'd have thought it must have some kind of thin satin finish, in which case your oil isn't going to penetrate the wood.

But I could be wrong, I know nothing about them.

Thanks guys it's very opened pore, and feels like literally no finish at all however it probably has some sort, I'll give it a go and see what happens,... Back and sides only :)
