I wonder - do the cheapish chinese made machine heads work effectively?

Or is there really a night and day difference between true Gotoh and these cheap and cheerful Chinese clone machine heads?

In my experience they're both better than original Klusons...

The best thing about Klusons is that they teach you to always tune up to the note, never down .

Check the ratios though - I think most of the Chinese ones are 15:1 too, but if they're 12:1 then the Gotohs are better for that alone.

I find the Jin-Ho 3+3 "keystone" types to be pretty sloppy. I also find the Ping Well "Gibson Deluxe" ones sloppy.

The Wilkinson-badged Jin-Ho six-in-line Kluson-alikes feel better despite being made in the same factory. This could be a gear ratio issue.

i have used some and they are fine.  Not as nice as the branded versions, but do function better than many vintage tuners
