    Two slightly distorted guitars!

    It works fine on YouTube itself.

    Yes. Buggered if I know. This is Vivian Stanshall, handing you back to the studio.*

    * Obscure B-side reference, folks.
    You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    One of my all time favourite albums.
    Mine too - although I genuinely prefer TB2, and I probably shouldn't .

    Not quite so sure about TB3 and The Millenium Bell - there's a bit too much stretching a concept beyond its natural limits, I think - but I really liked Tubular Beats .

    I also have a friend who looks remarkably like him, especially when he was younger and had long hair like Oldfield on the cover of Ommadawn.

    My sister got the album when it first came out and played it to us. At the time everyone said it was great because "it was done using synthesizers". :o

    After you've heard that ending, the original release is incredibly dull.

    I love the weird dancy stuff - in fact the whole 'Ibiza period', especially Tr3s Lunas - I just thought it wasn't really 'Tubular Bells' and seem to be stretching the concept a bit.

    The best bit about the Ibiza period is that he sold his house on the island to Noel Gallagher, and it fell into the sea :). Which Oldfield knew about, and he lost the court case about it, but it's still funny...

    I love Mike Oldfield.

    In my opinion The Songs Of Distant Earth is the best album ever made.

    Sentinel is the bit that makes TB2 better....

    That was a total ear-opener for me - that sparkling high-frequency stuff and the beautiful deeply filtered guitar is one of the best-sounding things I've ever heard, to this day.

    The Songs Of Distant Earth is astonishing too - especially when played at truly awe-inspiring volume through speakers that will properly handle the low frequencies :).
