Maybe I've never grown up, but the first things I thought of which genuinely make me feel good are programmes I watched as a kid.  The old Smallfilms programmes like Noggin the Nog, Bagpuss, Pogles ' Wood.  And Mr Benn.  And Trumpton, Camberwick Green and Chigley.  The Flashing Blade.  The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe.  White Horses.  I could go on...

If we were talking films, anything by Jacques Tati.  And the 1930s Universal monster movies.

    With that shirker Jay Blades?

"Yeah, I'll see what I can do for ya"

*walks over to one of the team*

"'Ere, I got this laverly table 'ere, I need ya to do it up proper...."

And then the arsehole takes all the glory for basically being a project manager!

...and he was rubbish on House of Games.

Anyway, comedies - Taskmaster, Modern Life is Goodish, Porridge, Father Ted - stuff I probably never go out of my way to watch but settle into like a comfy chair if I stumble across it.

Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. Top-class performances and a script with not a word wasted.

Porridge, for much the same reasons.

West Wing. At times a bit too "we're very clever and virtuous and the other lot are criminals" but it zipped along magnificently.

I'm going with (already mentioned) The Good life. A charming and delightful series with probably the woman I most fancied on tv in Barbara Good (Felicity Kendall). She was so lovely, but not really in a rampant sexy way, just in a way where you wanted to be with her.

Don't watch the last episode though! Horrible scene.

  • The Wonder Years - cheesy, but generally feelgood

I watched one episode after it was recommended. Just wasn't feeling it myself.

Another feelgood show for me is The Goldbergs. There's always a 'life problem' that gets sorted to satisfaction by the end.
