I've been hankering after something in the Explorer or V style to scratch an itch from my youth. The whole reason I was interested in playing guitar was a certain metal band, the mighty Tallica! 

So given how I've been revisiting my youth I've had various saved searches on eBay and an eye here. Finally this cropped up. Whilst it's not strictly the same as an Explorer, it's made by ESP and has the ole Hetfield 90s EMGs too. Picked it up for a reasonable price (I think) as it has some damage on it.

It arrived in pretty filthy condition, but it's cleaned up pretty good. It's very resonant actually and sounds great into my PT15.

Nice. I'm going through a bit of Flying V lust at the moment, but I want my more trad and old Skool because I'm an old fart.

I did go and see Metallica in about 87 or 88 though - supported by Anthrax...

Yeah would love a V!

Awww man that would've been awesome watching them back then, I only started getting in to them in 90. First album I heard was AJFA, it was pretty eye opening.

You need to put some foam pieces on the ends of that. Looks dangerous.

Mate, it is pretty pointy, I've already caught the walls a few times. It's just so big!!
