WTB Music Man

What's Hot
Having never so much as played a Music Man, I feel I’m missing out on something so of course want to buy one. I think really the shapes I could stomach are the Axis, JP and Luke shapes, the rest are probably too challenging.

what have you?

If MM Valentine shape would not be too challenging, got this one up for grabs on here at the moment.

  • I did consider that, one but I like neither 335's nor Tele's so I'm not sure it would be the greatest move!

I understand. I’ve also seen those comments before. Strange thing is I do honestly like 335’s and Tele’s but have never personally considered the Musicman Valentine as either

  • Whilst it’s supposedly based on a combination of the 335 and the tele it’s not like either.
I’ve had loads of MM guitars and the valentine is the only one I currently own. They are all brilliant.
The valentine is very thin. I didn’t like the active circuit so took it out and went passive. Also swapped the pickups over so the HB was is the bridge but that’s personal preference.
The axis is awesome but the neck feels tiny compared to many others. It’s not though. It’s just a by product of the off set profile. It’s also a small body. I’m 6ft 3 and it felt like it looked like I was playing a kids guitar.

Just get one man. Anyone that has one doesn’t regret it

They are the best necks.....I am a big fan of the Albert Lee ......I know some people struggle with the slightly art-deco shape of the body but the Rosewood neck on the HH is just sublime

You've described me here. The neck is small but feels different and more comfortable and less cramped to the Luke's I tried (still persevering with those) but I preferred the Albert Lee. As to he HH pickup configuration on a 5-way. Bloody lovely as you get both quack and usable in-between sounds with the girth and fullness of the humbuckers.

Now, just help me get over the shape and I'm on an EBMM journey trying to find what I love about the AL but in another model.

A very basic video comparison between my HH axis (now since sold) and my les paul (now also sold) tone comparison at about 11 mins

@Kebabkid ......learn to love the AL shape.........there's nothing else quite like them

  • Had a few interesting offers but seem to have realised what I’m most interested in is either a maple boarded Axis or a fully loaded JP

  • I have a JP6 Stealth fully loaded if you are interested.

what does the extra output and toggle switch on this do? And yes, are you selling or just teasing? :)

I might be selling my John Petrucci 7 string guitar.  So a bit of a niche thing.  I'm mainly sticking with 7 strings, but really want a jazz archtop instead, while the JP is very versatile, but more rock than mellow jazz IMO.

  • Bumping this because I’m still / once again interested in a music man. Nothing too Art Deco, but Axis, JP6, Valentine, Cutlass all considered. Must have tasty oiled neck.
