Why would compression gets (un)squished by a chorus.

I have two chorus pedals on my big board - one for thick and vibey goodness (a tortuga martini) and a Fulltone CF-1.

So if I stomp on my comprossor set to a goodly amount of squish, the squish becomes a transparent boost if I fire up the tortuga...

yet the fulltone doth not unsquish the compressor and it can still be heard... is this a job for a buffer?
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

    Guitar -> Strobostomp -> BiComprossor -> [ Timmy -> Zenkudo -> Orange Box -> 69 Mk2 ] -> Tortuga Martini -> Fulltone CF-1 => Eventide Time factor -> Cornell Romany

    Square brackets shows everything turned off - all true bypass afaik.
