in one of my recent’ posts I said that now the guitars are are gone I intend to spend a lot of time actually listening to music.

The hope is that not only will this be fun but it may also reignite my musical spark, recapture the mojo even …

The idea was to grab a handful of CDs and give them a good listening to for a fortnight and see what happens.

so, for those of you in the slightest bit interested in what is currently located next to my CD player, first off we had some old, some new, some not even released yet…

the idea is the playlist will change every few weeks

    The Gillies - Masonry Nails

Dave and Boo - What If?

    Jana Varga - Canvas

Leonard Cohen -You want it darker

    Jeff Beck - Loudhailer

    LUND - Flawed Heroine

    ERIKA -Bugeisha

    Hiromi -Spark

    and next up was

    ARQ - Short Stories

Jeni Hankins - The Oxygen Girl

Rock Candy Funk Party - Groove is King

Sara Dowling - Two Sides of Sara

Tom Doughty - Can’t Teach an Old Dog

just focussing on listening without any other distractions is amazing, we so rarely make time for that nowadays :) ...

    David Bowie - Toy:Box

Bowie recorded Toy over 20 years ago. It didn’t get an official release at the time but I obtained a bootleg rough mix during the first lockdown. The recent 3-CD version is something else!

All but one of the songs are re-works of his pre-success 60s numbers and they show just how brilliant his songwriting was even then.

    Loving it!

    Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill

    Closely followed by...

    Therapy? - Troublegum

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Some youtube compilations are terrible and the titles are offputting but this one is genuinely brilliant for chillout stuff

    Right right now?

Whitesnake - Fool For Your Loving

Just one of those bands that reminds me of my mum going out and me and my dad picking through his old vinyl collection.

Tbh I blame him for my music taste in general.

I caught the guitar solo half way through on an online station and thought it was The War on Drugs,  but it's not.
Great track, missed it first time round.  From 1997, Hurricane #1 -- Step Into My World
