    Luna Sol - Vita Mors

Released last year, but I only found out yesterday. by accident, after a mention in another thread of artists with less than 5,000 Spotify listeners...

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road live (cover) performance by Sara Bareilles.  Pretty flawless, and a great arrangement of a brilliant song.

Didn't catch last month that Lucinda Williams has released another of her Jukebox records – Beatles stuff this time.

The While My Guitar… cover is pretty good. Her voice/phrasing isn't so much of an acquired taste here, for anyone who isn't normally a fan. Good playing from I guess Doug Pettibone.

Had a retro disco day yesterday.  Some of Donna Summer's back catalogue, some Hamilton Bohannon.  And my daughter's fave from back in the day - the wonderful Together In Electric Dreams about half a dozen times  ;)

I don't often listen to the Beatles much these days, but on a whim I put Rubber Soul on.

Bloody hell they're good. Anyone who thinks they're overrated hasn't got a clue what they're talking about.  :)

Sergeant Thunderhoof - The Ghost of Badon Hill

Just stumbled on this, purely because the cover artwork caught my eye... I'm not sure how I never heard of this British band (terrible name, sorry guys!) before.  They've been going at least a decade and have half a dozen independently-released albums and EPs, which I have yet to listen to.

On this, their latest album, I'm reminded of a less-gloomy Pallbearer or a less-quirky Green Lung.  It's great stuff, and the singer, Dan Flitcroft, has a marvellous voice.

  • JPEG MAFIA - Its dark and hell is hot - some heavy rock guitar - but dont let that put you off. It's still a real cut up of varying styles and atmospheres..... a great record I think

Later period Queen largely passed me by but this gets a mention in a David Bennett Piano video and interesting that the middle section has Steve Howe on guitar, a rare appearance by a guest musician on a Queen track (off the top of my head this and Bowie on Under Pressure).

I heard this band on Womans Hour this morning (judge me not).
Quite impressed by the sound from what was described as a Welsh speaking female trio, 'Adwaith'.
Found a live video, there are more than 3 of them & the blonde guitarist with the beard confused me a bit...
Still can't understand a word, but builds nicely around the 1min mark.

I love a bit of Adwaith, I first heard them on Radio 5. I had a conversation (of sorts) with one of them on Facebook about The Slits (hopefully in an enthusiastic music fan way and not in a creepy writing poetry to Mary Spender kind of way).

I am really wondering about this now :pensive:

I do like songs not in English and as I only know two words of Welsh there is a lovely mysterious quality (to me) what they are singing.

Blackshape's album. Mostly it's instrumental and slabby and rather heavy, but then ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL comes in and it's quite stunning - almost delicate, sparse vocals, glorious deep bass. The video is quite something too. Possibly one for @stickyfiddle to add to the post-rock collection (rest of the album is firmly post-metal).
