"Surprising when you consider the noise they make that each and every guitar is scientifically tuned - just as if they were real musical instruments".

    What a cunt.

nice fretting hammer.  who needs specialist tools.

Also got to wonder about them  buffing an assembled guitar at the end.  Seems an easy way to have guitar parts flying across the room

  • The Burns factory looked pretty basic even by  1960s standards. I remember that the quality could vary drastically from one instrument to the other . These days I  have a Chinese built Burns Marvin , Cobra and Bison all of which are built to a very high standard .

I like that the spray booth amounts to little more than leaning the guitar up against a wall

I believe Burns guitars were made just outside Newcastle upon Tyne in South Shields until the mid 70’s unless of course they had two factories

edit, bit more about burns here

Lol good luck with that. TBH I thought Burns only had the South Shields factory before they were taken over and set up in London, good old Wikipedia eh? Glad I didn’t cite it as a fact. I remember the South Shields factory as I hung out in the area in my younger days, the factory is long gone now though and was demolished for housing.

    Well! I found this:

Which is just down the road from me, actually next door to where Dv247 sits across the road from PMT.

Just off North Street near the bus depot.

The voice over artist was just doing his job. The real cunt is the person who wrote this fucking crap for British Pathé. British Pathetic more like.

I lived in Barkingside  and often went to Romford.I had severel friends in Collier Row  .I always wanted a Burns until I played one .Its amazing just how much crap teenagers had to put up with in the late 50's -60,s snobbery ,vicars ,and ignorance  but then they didnt have teenagers until we came along and we didnt fight in any war to make sure we could become teenagers as a  side product of defeating HItler so I almost forgive them .

  • Also born and bred in Romford, managed to escape though! :-) Never knew of this and of course Shergold were only a couple of miles away. A veritable hub of mediocre guitar manufacturing ;-)
This is the truth from hillbilly guitars!

    No worries

My sister has a Mini, the newer one though, was going to recreate the photo some 60 years on!
I guess that original was taken in the 60’s some point but I’m not sure.. I’m only 30 myself and don’t know the history of Burns etc.
