Can you watch it as a stand-alone series without previous knowledge?
I don’t think you could.
I’m quite new to the MCU. We signed up to Disney+ and watched the films over a few months (something to do in lockdown), and it’s characters and references from those films (and it seems a load of stuff from the comics that I have no real knowledge off).
It’d be a weird experience to watch this without having seen the Avengers movies.
I agree, Ive seen the movies but not a geek over them, and I found the first two or three episodes really boring and I didnt get any of the references my son did. If it wasnt for him Id have given up watching.
I would say if you’ve seen Age of Ultron, Infinity War and maybe Endgame (less important), that would be plenty to understand what’s going on here.
Not the subtleties obviously, but the main thrust of the history & motivations of Wanda and Vis
Def don’t watch the recent X-men movies. They’re literally unrelated aside from knowing that Evan Peters played Quicksilver in them. And more importantly, they're shit
I liked the whole Tranquility Lane (Fallout 3) schtick; however, I'm now done with Wanda's selfish cnut ways. I am rooting for Aggy H, at least she's fun and interesting.
I know what you mean, but this way is better I think. This way they have a story to tell, a definite end (hopefully), and dont dilute the entertainment with unnecessary extra series.

Yep. It's clear this is leading to something - I suspect there will be the odd reference to it in the Falcon + Winter Soldier series, and a few more in Loki before the whole thing's set up for the next Dr Strange film.
Poor Wanda, she's lost everything and she looks like losing it again, thing us, will Agatha be an ally or enemy when director tosspot attacks next week?
Or will she even be in awe a little bit of the Scarlet Witch?
More importantly, when will I get that sodding "Agatha All Along" song out of my head?
We should all probably bear in mind more when posting on here (and I
don't exclude myself from this) that the guitar world is very small, the
Fretboard is quite well known, and it is not uncommon at all for the
subjects of our posts to read them...

I’m watching it without having seen the Avengers movies. I know bits of the MCU and my son fills in a few gaps for me. For the first few episodes a decent knowledge of US sitcoms might be more useful.
It’s a wonderfully well put together bit of TV. I think it is probably a shame that it isn’t 100% standalone.
Wanda's Halloween outfit vs Wanda's magician's assistant outfit....?

Mid-credit scene was unexpected in as much as I didn't expect them to have it in there, but makes sense given where the character is likely to pop up next.
Post-credits I was expecting Strange to show up (or at least a hint of his yellow swirly stuff..) but I guess it's a hint of where Wanda's heading next, which will be a big part of Dr S2
Enjoyed the finale... edited to remove possible spoilers...

I like it, but it has lost that initial "wtf is this?!" magic.

I’m going dark stealth mode.
OK then.
Erm.
Guys...mid-credit and post-credit scene.
