Wanted: external SSD

Looking for a 500GB-1TB external disk drive. Must be USB3.1 or USB-C.

It's mainly for incremental backing up, plugged permanently into a dock, so I don't really need the very fastest disk, and nor does it need to be one of the slinky pocketable jobbies. Prefer quiet, so would favour an SSD.

Let me know.

For a 512GB you could use a USB-C flash drive, eg. here.

Hadn't seen those before - will look into them more closely.

However, using a USB-C slot on something with "Up to 200MB/s Transfer speed" seems a bit of a waste. That seems more like HDD over USB3 speed?

FYI, those flash drives are ssslllloooowwww. They're fine for a few big files (at least, at the start of a transfer), but they're crap if you're backing up lots of files, and they wear badly compared with a real SSD.

I use an M.2 enclosure like this one, along with any old M.2 drive (SATA or NVME). Far, far faster than any flash drive and more reliable over time.
