Forgot how bad you get if you don't play for a few weeks

Due to Uni work piling up and being bored of playing guitar on my own (seems like everything we do recently is on our own) I haven't wanted not been able to play guitar since early January.

Played for an hour today, and sound awful. Fingers are hurting, can't hit the right notes and my right hand is uncooperative.

Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you get back to where you were before having a lengthy break?
Just so people are aware. I have no idea what any of these words mean.

Been there several times. Often it’s only been a couple of weeks, but on one occasion it was eleven years. I go back to finger picking, either on acoustic or electric, and focus on the sound and feel of the notes. Speed and coordination sleek back while you’re not looking.

It’s also an opportunity to refocus your playing. Too often our fingers follow well trodden patterns. For a few days they’re less likely to be doing that.
