IIRC Joe ‘no pedals’ Bonamassa does have a chorus as an always on pedal so I guess that makes sense.

    yes!

but no vibe switch for the hippo (no great loss)

and something about the chorus delay time being to Joe's taste

Also worth noting the Doubleland special was just two overrated specials in one box.  So it isn't a new thing!

    That's terrible.
Ruining a perfectly good OD pedal with a chorus.

  • He had a prototype of this on his Instagram a few months ago, called a 'Gollywobble'. Needless to say chaos ensued and they sensibly seem to have renamed it for the production model! I bought a second hand Overrated Special recently and it's a really great OD. It does mean I won't bother with this though.

Anyone else think that the flash of his Rolex in that video was a subliminal message telling us something?

Given his choice of a gold & blue one, a solid lack of taste and self-awareness. Not much we didn't know from his music though...

Anyone know if that is how he actually uses his Hippo? Slowest rate and not much depth? It’s not a chorus setting I have ever tried

I love the sound of my Analogman Bi Chorus set like that. One of my favourite settings. Sounds great with overdrive. Adds a little edge to the tone.

but I thought Joe mainly used the Hippo as a Leslie sound.

Last time I watched any kind of rig rundown with him I’m pretty sure the Hippo was an always on, add a bit of spread to the sound pedal so you’d hardly be aware that any chorus was on.
Must be on YouTube I guess.
