Gypsy jazz masterclass this Saturday, 6 March

Thought some fellow forum members might be interesting in a Zoom masterclass with the great John Wheatcroft that I'm putting on for this Saturday, 6 March.

We're going to look at some of the classic Django Reinhardt vocabulary and how you can get that into your playing, before looking at how the current leaders on the gypsy jazz scene are bringing new sounds and influences into the genre.

John Wheatcroft is one of the UK's leading authorities on this music. He is head of guitar at BIMM London and a visiting lecturer at several other high education institutions. Many will know him as a long-time contributor to Guitar Techniques and other magazines.

John leads a busy double-life as an artist and an educator. He has performed with artists as diverse as Billy Cobham, John Jorgenson, Alex Acuña, John Williams, Frank Gambale, Paco Peña, Paulus Schäfer, Mozes Rosenberg, Mike Clark and Bill Summers (The Headhunters), Carl Verheyen (Supertramp), Ralph Salmins, Paul Elliott, Keith Carlock and Laurence Cottle.

John is an amazing teacher/player and a lovely guy - I did a week of classes he did at an IGF a few years ago (more jazz/rock than gypsy jazz) so can highly recommend. Hope it goes well
