Name brand parts from Ali Express

I have looking at trem bridges and came across floated Rose and Goto parts on Ali Express.

They are listed using these brand names. But I am suspicious. Could they be genuine parts or are they just knock offs

The only one that springs to mind for me is Wilkinson and I know that Trev W has authorised Chinese dealers to sell direct.

Beware of anything there which purports to be Rickenbacker compatible...

...especially the bass bridges, which aren't!

I've had a "Floyd" trem from one of those sites and it was made of soft metal and the trem arm force all went onto a little grub screw (which failed, of course); fortunately the component sizing was true and I was able to fit a Schaller trem mounting in that particular case.

Also beware that the "Overlord Of Music" headless bass and guitar bridges are of really poor quality and are best avoided; they seem to be maybe 10% of a top brand's one and sadly there's a reason for that.

If they're selling "Goto" parts then they're are knock-offs, probably trying or hoping for some vague brand recognition in the buyer. The actual brand name is "Gotoh".

It actually used to be Goto, maybe that's a direct translation from Japanese or something?  Ali express have a very good buyer protection policy, and people in China need access to quality parts too.

Several people have mentioned that they had to buy two just to get sufficient parts to make one working bridge. Even then it was cheap and nasty, and the tuners wouldn’t turn easily.

In the past i have purchased parts both inter brand named (floyd rose OFR not a special) and domestic market brands such as guyker from both these sellers and the items arrived in very good time and were original fully branded quality parts and in real boxs.

Aliexpresses feedback system far out classes both ebay and amazon for allowing users to flag issues so if you think it might be a knock off check out the feedback for each item and look for user uploaded pics, also just look at what ever else the seller is listing, if they have a single Floyd Rose bridge listed among 100's of item of tat id say stay clear.

& as @John_A says above aliexpress have a very good dispute system (again better than ebay's imo)
