Anyone Like Arcade Games from 80s & 90s?

In a constant effort to reduce my relaxation time and peace of mind to basically zero, I have started a little side SIDE project called Vintage Coin-app Reviews

Its still very much in its early days and a work in progress, but I’ve got plenty of content in the pipeline

used to spend a lot of money playing pinball, now I have one on the computer, a lot cheaper than going to the arcade.

I really love the ones from the very early 1980s, Tempest, Defender and Robotron being my favourites. I spent an awful lot of my pocket money on those games as a teenager.

Subscribed! Great idea, and nice work on the video too.

These days I mostly play classics via the NES & SNES emulators on my Switch, though I've seen some gameboy-like handhelds to run ROMs on too that look intriguing for these eras.

Side Arms. It was the first arcade game I completed on a single credit. God knows how much money I shovelled into the thing to get to that point.

Cheers! I’m actually playing all mine in my home build arcade machine. It’s got a HDMI out so run it into a capture card then into my PC

Oooh, nostalgia.

Always loved Sinistar, and all the games with vector graphics -- Asteroids, Gravitar, Space Duel etc.

The turtles game was my favourite growing up. Adored the show so couldn’t help pumping a tonne of 20p coins into the machine whenever I saw it

My son got one of those cheap handhelds with 1000 old games on it for Christmas. Most of it's crap and some of the games won't even load, plus you have to scroll through all the games alphabetically! Some classics in there though.

I don't suppose you have an NQ64 near you? There's one in Brum and I think there's some in Liverpool and Manchester too. It's been my favourite drinking spot for years and during the break in between lockdowns last year I got on the top of the leaderboards for a few games at the one in Birmingham.

Guitar Hero (Reptilia - The Strokes) I got the maximum score on the hardest difficulty there.

Some lovely Japan only versions of things available for MAME. I've stopped scouring the web for roms but I liked all the early stuff. Im a big fan of Moon Cresta mentioned above. I'm  a fan of Gauntlet and Golden Axe etc. from a bit later too. Lots of money spent on the golden era of Sega stuff while on holiday too (Out Run, Super Hang On, Space Harrier and Afterburner).

I used to read C+VG as well as the format specific Atari titles. Great period in game history. There's a super nostalgic series on Netflix called High Score which does a good job of filling in the industry stuff for most of the eras and genres.

No but there’s an Arcade Club in Leeds which is huuuge! 

I remember beating the second boss (Bebop) for the first ever time on one credit. Donatello was my favourite turtle after that!

Last time we were in New York for work we went to a place called Barcade. It's the most hipster thing ever: a bar that sells craft beer and lets you play on vintage arcade machines.

I've played maybe 5 or 6 arcade games in my life.
Not cos I don't like them, I'm just not very good at them.
