Played them every day in my college years. Norwich is full of pubs and every one had a couple of games. Me and my pal would tour around for the night.

I was OBSESSED with Mr Do! and was bloody good at it (high score over 1.7 million, most players seemed to get about 80k). Actually, I say WAS obsessed, I still play it a few times every week on a mac emulator!

The only other score I recall was on Scramble I got 316000 when they installed it at the Art college I was at. That was an hours play going through the whole thing 15 times.

What were the other games I liked???? Mr Do's castle, Burgertime, Sidearms, Darius, Centipede, R-type II, Tron, Rampage, Track & field, Mappy ..... I forget now, it was all 40 odd years ago ....

    Mr Do!

    Scramble

    Burgertime

Operation Wolf was my favourite as it was the first arcade game I remember where you actually had a gun as the controller.

I have really fond memories of PacMan table machines. My aunt and uncle had one in their living room! My auntie used to look after me in the school holidays. I’d sit and play it all day.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Love this stuff, got a Retropie nes build with 40,000 games across various platforms. Funnily enough was playing Turtles In Time yesterday and also these amongst others

    Double Dragon
    Wresltefest
    Final Fight
    Sensible Soccer
    Mario Kart
    Goldeneye
    Another World

Amazing fun but I do waste a lot of time flicking through rather than playing

Yeah I love final fight. It’s the first game I’ve chosen to review (still pending upload). AvP is better though!

1980 Sega 'Carnival'. Old school video emulating old school arcade shooting game
Along with classics like Robotron, Defender, Battlezone & Missile Command.
All simple graphically, but all about the playability.

Star Castle,Star Wars (vector): Zaxxon, Defender, Centipede... a long list. Loved pinball too.

i spend most of my holidays (time and money) in the arcades in Penzance and St Ives.  Getting a BBC with Planetoid and Elite was life changing.  I had Philips G7000 before that had some crazy fun games.

    Now I have an emulator

My son collects vintage consoles and games..

Last time we were in New York for work we went to a place called Barcade. It's the most hipster thing ever: a bar that sells craft beer and lets you play on vintage arcade machines.
This is (maybe now was) one in Leeds

Anyone got a MiSTer setup?  Best modern/retro bit of kit I've ever bought/built.

Is an arcade original gauntlet available anywhere?

  • I find these old arcade machines to be remarkably evocative of the time and place where I played them.

Star Wars (vector) in a bar at Pontins at Brean Sands in Somerset.I must have only been about 9 years old. It had one of those sit in cabinets.

Side arms & Toobin at a swimming pool/Lido in Wandsworth.

Street fighter II at the Burger King in Winchester.

Mr Do! in the Lauderette at Lancaster Uni.

Trog! on the pier at Brighton.

I can clearly remember the sounds and smells at each one and they are all great warm fuzzy memories.

Think these have been mentioned but I love Golden Axe and the Turtles game.

One I have vague, but fond memories of, was a Michael Jackson game that I think must have been a Moonwalker (film) tie in. I don't remember anything about it but I do remember really liking it! Anyone?

Yep. I remember that one. You’re right, it was Smooth Criminal afair. Similar set up to the Turtles game tbh.

    I feel old.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Also chips are "Plant-based" no matter how you cook them.
