Replace my Marshall - advice

What's Hot
darcymdarcym Frets: 1297
I've decided to get off the teat of my old Marshall DSL and swap myself out for something different more future proof and share my thoughts to see if the more educated in this amp space could advise and guide a bit please.

so Marshall DSL 2000 is going and I want to replace it

my ask.

a.) 2 channel amp with EQ on each channel if possible, at least some form of EQ.
b.) one channel to be a clean channel the other to be a JCM800 'style' level of over drive (not JCM 800 replica just giving you the range)
c.) 50w (or less) or 100w with pretty impressive power scaling
d.) minimal head foot print (eg: if possible not a huge huge head shell)
e.) no fan noise

bonus points
a.) a good analogue reverb that can be on / off
b.) any sort of FX loops or boost options
c.) a third channel

my thoughts on this

a.) Friedman brown eye 50w - I don't think the channels on this are separate enough
b.) Mesa Tripple crown - 50w, I can't help it, these have been an itch for me for an age, but no-one seems excited by them
c.) EVH5150iii 50w stealth head - I like the voicing on this and the updated look, but I head bad things about the channels and the EQ not really being seperate
d.) EVH5150iii EL34 head - as above, the EL34 thing sounds cool, but same concerns as above.
e.) Marshall SC20H - this looks nice, but I worry that it will be very fizzy,

thoughts ?

Just get the Triple Crown. You know you want to :).

If you're lucky and they haven't set the world on fire, you might find a used one quite cheap... (for a Mesa).

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

    "Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand." - Homer Simpson

I'm so close to this, the paper spec and youtube videos looks great, but no-one seems to have tried one to give some honest feedback, also they seem pretty rare.

I do like the midi functionality, and I really like the smaller head size.

What about the Slo 30 ?

+1 JVM205H, that's my favourite of the JVM series. It's not exactly small though.

JVM's not worked for me in the past, and I'm not excited by the new DSL range (despite the new build improvements) feels like it's time for a change if I'm letting go of past loves.

just watched the Tripple Crown video again......I'm almost certain this is what I want.

the other amps in the list make me doubt things, but the tripple crown just looks like a great great amp.

As much as I love the sc20h, I don’t think it’ll fit your needs.

I'd love to give a triple crown a whirl, I am as excited as you are potentially!

Mesa MKV? It actually does other sounds outside Dream Theater.....shock...horror....who’d have thunk it....

Seriously, very versatile amp, will do the TC thing with ease and you are still left with a heap of other sounds in it.

No, the Small Box is a different model.

    50w

Plexi Channel - can be clean.
    Hot rodded Plexi channel.
Shared EQ - but no problem.
    Great FX loop.
    Good master volumes.
    Footswitchable channels.

Bit less feature laden then the Brown Eye, but it seems to garner a lot of love and people do say it’s one of Friedman’s best amps. I think even Dave Friedman says it’s his favourite.

    Brunetti pleximan 50

    Clean
    Plexi
    Hot rod boost ( footswitchable)
    FX loop.

    5w or 50w

    Love mine a lot.

Love to know why ? as on paper it looks a cracking bang for buck little amp

I get the lack of 2 channel EQ - but as I'm really only interested in a quality drive I could cut it some slack at that price, I get more into two channel requirements if I'm spending high value cash.

It was the lack of clean channel options.
I've owned mine since summer 2019 and I love it. I've done pretty much every type of gig from shitty clubs to outdoor stages, marquees, proper venues, and it's been great for all of them.
