I got this all wrong..

.. I heard ABBA singing 'The way old friends do' as I sat in the car recently.  I could hear that it was a live recording but I assumed that it was an old traditional song and that ABBA sang it for the benefit of the audience.  Like any old local song that everyone knows and joins in.

But I was wrong.  It is an ABBA song.  A great singalong song but 100% ABBA.

Only goes to show that you learn something new each day.

I once assumed 'Thank You For The Music' was an old song too - but no, again that's an Andersson/Ulvaeus original.

They had a real knack of writing songs so perfect they sound familiar - there are a lot of European folk music influences as well as the pop/rock ones in ABBA which I think helps with that.
