Loving the roots era sepultura style detuned fishing rod thingy and digeridoo.

Gojira are as far removed from my normal musical taste as you could get but my son loves all the “Norwegian death metal bite the heads off bats” type of music and he urged me to listen to them.
 I don’t have a clue why I like them but I went to see them in concert and they were amazing. Intense and brutal but brilliant.

I didn't hate that as much as thought I would.  Its a lot less b-c era Morbid Angel, and a lot more Killing Joke/reunion era Amebix.

I don’t think Gojira are anything like Killing Joke. I just think it’s ridiculous that anyone claims any band is “ripping off” another when you can basically make that claim about almost all bands. Almost. 

“Influenced by” seems a more appropriate phrase, but not even in this case.

Gojira are hardly ripping off KJ, considering they’ve been around for two decades with their past stuff more based on techy industrial hodge podge.

Thats brilliant and no, it's definitely not ripping off The Damned ... uh, I mean Killing Joke.

Bit Soulfly-ish at the start and in the main riff but still definitely Gojira.  Looking forward to the full album.

yeah all the tracks released off it so far have been monsters

The previous song released, Born for One Thing, is a behemoth and has the most incredible breakdown using guitar harmonics. I haven't got into Gorija until recently, looking forward to hearing the full album.

That's my least favourite of the 3 released so far but its still a total monster. If the rest of the albums is as good it will walk into album of the year for me.

The Way Of All Flesh was one of my favourite albums when it came out. Haven't spun it for a while. This stuff is okay. Maybe I just need it louder!!!!
